Welcome to the online portfolio of portrait artist Dawn Thornton.

Born in 1963 I am a self taught artist with a real passion and interest in portraiture. I work from home and live in a small village on the outskirts of Durham City I enjoy capturing the real character of my subject whether it be a dog, a horse, a cat or someone's children. All portraits are created from photographs of the subject. I specialize in pastels but i am just as much at home using oils and gouache.
